Educational mission with a camera and digipeater.

Description

The mission also includes a 2MP camera as an educational payload. This subsystem, composed of a camera and a microcontroller, captures images and sends them to the onboard computer, which then transmits them to the ground station using SSDV via GFSK packets.

The primary educational objective is to give students hands-on experience in designing, operating, and understanding the full image transmission process from in-orbit image capture to successful ground reception using real satellite communication protocols.

The amateur radio community in Vietnam is not that active with the satellite based amateur radio communication these days. And therefore, the secondary mission of the satellite is also to actively involve amateur radio operators in Vietnam and worldwide by using the digipeater feature of the satellite and by receiving the data from the satellite. The data from satellite will be publicly available and we plan to distribute a QSL for the first few hundred amateur radio operators who digipeat the message to actively involve them.

  1. Camera Mission: Take photos using a 2MP Camera and transmit it to the ground station via SSDV. The image will be publicly available and all the users can get the image.
  2. Digipeater: The satellite has digipeater mission in which it can receive messages from ham radio operators and forward the message. This mission is to actively involve the amateur radio operators to interact with the satellite.
  3. Educational Mission: This will be the first time students in Vietnam have the opportunity to build and operate a satellite.
