Highly elliptical geosynchronous transfer orbit to study the impacts of solar storms to the Earth’s magnetic field, light spectra and radiation belts.

Description

Use its highly elliptical geosynchronous transfer orbit to study the impacts of solar storms to the Earth’s magnetic field, light spectra and radiation belts. CMEs are huge explosions of plasma from the Sun’s outer atmosphere that can trigger geomagnetic storms and enhanced aurora at Earth. The GTO orbit will offer the LACCE satellite a unique opportunity to study these effects at a continuum of distances from our planet.
