Demonstrate iodine-fueled plasma thruster.

Description

Iodine-fueled plasma thruster. Our mission goals are to demonstrate the ability to conduct orbital maneuvers, navigate to a target given limited information, and demonstrate robust communications with a ground station from both lunar orbit and deep space.

Results

Wes Faler, chief executive of Miles Space, said that cubesat appears to be tumbling and is slightly off its planned trajectory. Ground stations are getting only fragments of individual data packets from the spacecraft as its transmitter goes in and out of view. “We’re working on software to assemble a data packet from the fragments, a process akin to sequencing a genome from DNA fragments,” he said in early January. “That’s going to take a while.”

In trouble, tumbling, off-trajectory; a few partial frames; DSN passes (OLR) did not detect signal.

The Team Miles mission (grey) with an intended destination of a heliocentric orbit was also not part of the DSN portfolio but when it was found to be tumbling and off trajectory, with a few partial frames, the DSN attempted by could not detect a signal.
