Demonstrate the generation of polarisation-entangled photon pairs in space.

Description

Demonstrate the generation of polarisation-entangled photon pairs in space. Demonstrate that the technologies used on scientific payload, including the new flexure stages, blade mounting and thermal design, are working as intended. Besides these main objectives, the mission also has the additional goals to investigate aging of the payload and to de-risk future SpooQySat and quantum key distribution (QKD) missions.

Results

The operation of a polarization entangled photon-pair source on board a CubeSat in LEO has been reported. Entangled photon-pair production was observed over a temperature range from 16C to 21.5C.
