Polytech Universe-6 Spacecraft

Measurement of electromagnetic radiation in various frequency ranges. Receiving signals from AIS.

Payload:

• wideband radio receiver with an analysis bandwidth of up to 100 MHz in the range 100 MHz - 18 GHz;
• an overview camera for assessing the correct operation of the subsystems of the MCA with a resolution of 640x480, 320x240 or 160*120 pixels;
• On-board AIS receiver, two frequency channels: 87B (161.975 MHz), 88B (162.025 MHz); sensitivity – 110 dBm; power consumption no more than 4 W.

Purpose

• measurement of the level of electromagnetic radiation in various frequency ranges;
• receiving signals from the automatic identification system (AIS), storing and accumulating AIS messages and transmitting them to the ground control point for further processing and analysis.

The spacecraft is designed to measure the level of electromagnetic radiation in various frequency ranges, receive signals from the automatic identification system ( AIS ), save and accumulate AIS  messages and transmit them to the ground control station for further processing and analysis.

Expected result of the project: 

• construction of maps of the distribution of electromagnetic radiation levels from the Earth's surface;
• reception and analysis of data transmitted in the AIS system, database formation, visualization of results;
• development of algorithms for processing AIS data  under collision conditions.

Practical significance:

• creation of a database on the territories of the technosphere, seas and oceans, forests, energy-intensive facilities;
• forecasting possible interruptions in the operation of radio communication and television systems;
• attracting schoolchildren and students to study space technologies.
