Description

“AZAADISAT” is a satellite mission with the ambitious vision to encourage Government school children with the basic understanding and knowledge of space and tutor them to build a small experiment and launch it to the edge of space through “Orbital Satellite”.

Carries 75 different payloads each weighing around 50 grams and conducting femto-experiments. Girl students from rural regions across the country were provided guidance to build these payloads.

The payloads include a UHF-VHF Transponder working in ham radio frequency to enable voice and data transmission for amateur radio operators, a solid state PIN diode-based Radiation counter to measure the ionising radiation in its orbit, a long-range transponder and a selfie camera. The ground system developed by ‘Space Kidz India’ will be utilised for receiving the data from this satellite.

“AZAADISAT 2” is a satellite mission with the ambitious vision to encourage Government school children (from economically weak backgrounds) with the basic understanding and knowledge of space and tutor them to build a small experiment and launch it to SPACE through “Orbital Satellite”. THIS IS THE 1st TIME IN THE WORLD 750 GIRL STUDENTS - RURAL , COME TOGETHER TO BUILD A SATELLITE.

The significance of this project was that it had been conceptualized by Dr. Srimathy Kesan which started a year and half ago, to pay our tribute to mark the 75th anniversary of independence-Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Space Kidz India has developed basic and simple experiments that students can learn and assemble with the simultaneous support of their science teachers and our SKI team’s online coaching. From 75 Government schools for Girls across India, we have selected 10 Girl students from each school to give this opportunity. The selected students are predominantly from classes 8th -12th. This is a 1st of its kind Space mission with an ‘All women concept’ to promote Women in STEM as this year’s UN theme is “Women in Space”

The mission objectives of AzaadiSAT-2 are:

  1. To demonstrate the LoRa and Amateur Radio communication capabilities.
  2. To measure the radiation levels in space using the new solid-state sensor.
  3. To measure various health data like temperature, reset count, etc, and IMU data from 75 student experiments installed inside the satellite.
  4. To demonstrate expandable satellite structure.

Payload details:

  1. LoRa Transmitter
  2. Solid-State Radiation Sensor
  3. 75 Student Experiment Board
  4. Expandable structure

Specialities of AzaadiSAT-2:

  1. Expandable structure - To demonstrate expandable satellite structure. The satellite becomes 8 times bigger once it reached orbit using a nover expansion technology which gives it capabilities to produce 4 times the power of what it can generate in stowed configuration.
  2. NCC Song - As it is the 75th year of NCC National Cadet Corps formation, Dr. Srimathy, Founder, CEO was an Ex.NCC-“Best cadet of Andhra Pradesh” '92, who was keen to give a tribute to NCC by playing the NCC song from Space.
  3. Space Song - “The Space Song” is composed and Sung by the Rockstar DSP. This is a song of hope to girl children and students of rural India to dream and inspire of becoming a Space Scientist. A song that shows the journey of a village girl to Space in her Dream.
  4. The Prestigious logo of G20 is being carried in the Satellite to Space, as India holds the G20 Presidency this year. It is a Pride of every Indian.
