Description

Monitor rural areas, where it will help measure soil moisture, harvest different cereals, track livestock , and offer connectivity where terrestrial mobile phone networks do not reach.

The characteristic of Labsat is that, unlike other devices that are linked to a high-speed network, "it is designed for low-intensity data, with the possibility of to send short records . For example, the reading of the temperature of a place, water flow, in oil fields or mining productions. They are short-lived messages, ”he explained. They would be used, for example, for remote control of different variables and offer connectivity services in rural areas, rivers and sea coasts, mountainous areas and in other places not reached by terrestrial networks,in collaboration with telecommunication operators in the region.

The group of engineers involved in this initiative is developing the final phase of the Narrow IoT (NB-IoT) module under the standards established by 3GPP, which is defined for 5G.

The satellite, produced by Copitec, Fundetec and UP , complies with the satellite standard defined by NASA.
