An Earth observation satellite constellation.

Description

JACK-001 is a microsatellite based entirely on domestic technology, developed through the collaboration of three small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): Cosmoworks for its satellite system operation technology, Justek for its mechanical design and attitude control technology, and Ostech for its high-precision optical telescope technology. These SMEs handled the entire process from manufacturing and testing to operation, showcasing their independent technological capabilities.

Going forward, JACK-001 will undergo performance verification by carrying out various missions, including Earth observation, astrophotography, and attitude control system checks.

Starting with JACK-001, Cosmoworks plans to build an Earth observation satellite constellation in three phases: an initial 20 satellites, followed by 50, and then 100. Based on this achievement, the company aims to accelerate efforts to secure global competitiveness for its domestic satellite platform.

The JACK satellite series is the first case in Korea where every aspect, from the satellite's hardware and software to ground station operation, has been developed domestically. It is expected to be a significant starting point, heralding an era of space technology self-reliance led by SMEs.
