Description

Building a fleet of Orbital Robots (Orbots™) equipped with sensors, cameras, robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) software to enable up-close inspections and assistance.

Completed the final testing of their “Barry” (B1B2) spacecraft which includes Rogue’s Scalable Compute Platform, hosted hardware and software payloads, and situational awareness sensors.

The pocket-size Barry-1 payload was built on a platform provided by EnduroSat, a Bulgarian cubesat specialist and integrated into an Exolaunch EXOpod Nova deployer. During the Barry-1 deployment, Rogue will test internal and customer-developed algorithms as it collects data on various aspects of spaceflight. It also will test customer payloads from the propulsion startup IVO. The company is developing so-called IVO Quantum Drive electric propulsion technology for low-Earth orbit spacecraft.

Once on orbit, Barry-1 will demonstrate the very first version of Rogue’s innovative Scalable Computer Platform (SCP) in a satellite bus built by EnduroSat, and collect performance data invaluable to future designs.

SAIC will integrate two Rogue cubesats for a planned 2023 mission. Going forward, SAIC will help develop Rogue’s fleet of Orbital Robots for space situational awareness, in-space services, assembly and manufacturing. Rogue Space is planning to launch more demonstrations in 2024 under a partnership with defense contractor SAIC.

Richard Mansell: Some Quantum Drive facts while we wait on LEOP:

  1. Although the Quantum Drive has no mass ejection, it is not a reactionless drive. We take advantage of Mike McCulloch's theory of #QI to produce a reaction physically within the Drive, but part of an open system!
  2. IVO LTD's Quantum Drive is not a reincarnation/adaptation of the EmDrive. There are no microwaves, no conical metal cavities, no magnetrons. Totally different devices!
  3. Despite what some have said, third party entities have been involved: from critiquing the test setups to conducting satellite integration. These include individuals from academia, commercial space and the U.S. government.
  4. Barry-1 has 2 Quantum Drives: QD1 (Blue Arrow, internal) & QD1-TC (Green Arrow). Both are designed to produce thrust in the same direction (Red Arrow). QD1-TC is expected to produce about 2x the thrust of QD-1.
  5. Like all experiments, this mission will be considered a success if all mechanisms for testing the Drives work, whether the outcome is positive (Thrust!) or negative (no thrust). Personally I'm looking forward to seeing thrust!
  6. This is not only a set of experiments, but also a critical step in raising the Technology Readiness Level of the Quantum Drives from the current 6 to a 9. If thrust is shown, we will have a ready product!
