Educational CubeSat mission with camera payload.

ROSPIN-SAT-1 is a CubeSat project with two main objectives.

  1. It represents an educational tool through which students can learn about the complexities of a real space mission design, build, test and operation project.
  2. The project aims to become the first student led operational Romanian CubeSat in orbit with an Earth Observation mission. The CubeSat itself fits in a 3U form factor and it will monitor Romania’s health vegetation status with the goal to inform reforestation programmes.

We are proud to announce that the ROSPIN-SAT-1 team has reached another important milestone in developing the first student led Earth Observation CubeSat mission in Romania. In parallel with working on the technical documentation for the European Space Agency - ESA, our team prepared a detailed grant application requesting €20.000 from Ministerul Cercetării, Inovării și Digitalizării to start developing flight hardware for the satellite. Our application, registered with number 141 in the Henri Coanda Grant Programme, was successful with one of the highest scores (96.67%). In the next 12 months, the ROSPIN-SAT-1 team will purchase several satellite components and will also start developing the mission software.
