Wyvern

The world has been waiting for high-res hyperspectral imaging from space to become commercially accessible. An advanced spectral imaging technique that collects hundreds of images at different wavelengths to form 3D data blocks, hyperspectral imaging has the power to detect incredible details invisible to conventional imaging standards.

• Space startup Wyvern wants to make data about Earth’s health much more accessible, 2019-06-21.
• We have signed an agreement with AAC Clyde Space to own the Earth observation data from three satellites launching mid-2022. The hyperspectral data, distributed by Wyvern, will serve agriculture, forestry management, environmental monitoring, and other industries.
• Edmonton-based space startup Wyvern has received an initial $155,000 to create a feasibility study for Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) on how satellite-based hyperspectral imaging could benefit Canadian defence, 2021-03-25.
• Wyvern expects to launch a constellation of 36 satellites in the coming years with its deployable optics technology — some bigger and others smaller than its initial 6U satellites. Lissinna declined to say when it could deploy the first satellite with its foldable telescope, or what company would build this constellation.
• AAC Clyde Space has been awarded a 60 kGBP (approx. 0.7 MSEK) contract with the Canadian Earth observation company Wyvern Inc. to secure a launch of 3 satellites into orbit in 2022. The contract precedes an intended agreement for hyperspectral data delivery expected to be finalised during Q2, 2021. Under the comprehensive agreement, AAC Clyde Space will design, manufacture and own three 6U EPIC satellites equipped with a hyperspectral payload, while Wyvern Inc. will commit to subscribe to the data service. The agreement is dependent on Wyvern Inc. finalising ongoing client negotiations.
• Teaming up with Loft Orbital, a space infrastructure company, to expand the capacity of our Dragonette constellation. Our mission is set to fly on Loft’s second-generation satellite platform, which consists of the Longbow bus, derived from the flight-proven OneWeb bus and the Hub, a modular payload interface that allows for the turnkey accommodation of any customer mission. Wyvern will operate the mission using Cockpit, Loft’s mission operations software. With the ability to support 20-100x the downlink volume as a traditional cubesat, the expanded imaging capacity of Loft’s platform enables Wyvern to serve the growing demand for high-quality data.
